Grant Writing through the

Eyes of a Grant Reviewer

San Antonio, TX

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

February 25, 2009

This workshop is helpful for all grant writers - from the novice to the experienced.

Competition for grant funds will increase as more people apply for local, state, federal, and foundation funds. The review process will be viewed more critically as these entities determine how they will allocate their funds in support of your programs and projects. CBE’s Grant Writing Workshop is designed to help grant writers and/or members of grant writing teams understand what grant reviewers consider when scoring and/or awarding funds.

 OBJECTIVES

Participants will be able to:

  • Analyze grant guidelines
  • Examine three major areas for compatibility between the funding organization and the applying organization
  • Identify the various types of funding
  • Name the different criteria required by funding sources
  • Differentiate between federal reviewer’s tasks, foundation reviewing mechanisms and generally how state applications are reviewed
  • Distinguish between a grant’s selection criteria and the goals and objectives of the funder
  • Identify keyword searches to find the right match and use resources that are very specific to your current project
