            This workshop will be helpful to all grant writers - from novice to expert. Competition for grant funds will increase as more people apply for local, state, federal, and foundation funds. The review process will be viewed more critically as these entities determine how they will allocate their funds in support of your programs and projects. CBE’s Grant Writing Workshop is designed to help grant writers and/or members of grant writing teams understand what grant reviewers consider when scoring and/or awarding funds. CBE, Inc. authored an awarded four-year $2.8 million dollar federal Safe Schools Healthy Student Initiative for a small Vermont school district in 2007.

At the end of this workshop participants will be able to: 

ü      Examine three major areas for compatibility between the funding organization and the applying organization

ü      Identify the various types of funding

ü      Analyze grant guidelines

ü      Name the different criteria required by funding sources

ü      Differentiate between federal reviewer’s tasks, foundation reviewing mechanisms and generally how state applications are reviewed

ü      Distinguish between a grant’s selection criteria and the goals and objectives of the funder

ü      Identify keyword searches to find the right match and use resources that are very specific to your current project
